A federal appeals court has turned aside an action by a group of atheists and humanists to have the phrase “In God We Trust” removed from all United States bills and coins.

The three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit on May 29 affirmed a decision by a trial judge to dismiss the lawsuit, which named the U.S. Congress as defendant, on summary judgment.
