Former President Donald Trump’s impeachment team drew generally poor marks from the legal community Friday as the attorneys mounted their defense against claims the former president incited an insurrection at the Capitol.

Friday’s three-hour defense included a nearly 10-minute montage of several Democrats using the word “fight” during various speeches and media appearances in an attempt to mitigate Trump’s comments at a Jan. 6 rally as Congress prepared to certify the election results. House impeachment managers claim Trump’s statements—including his words “fight like hell”—fueled the violent mob that stormed the Capitol building. A police officer was killed and many people were injured in the uprising.
