Gov. Gavin Newsom isn’t the only California politician staring down a recall election. Groups have launched several recall campaigns against district attorneys in San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well. On Sept. 14, the same day voters will decide whether to recall Newsom, Sonoma County residents also will be able to vote on whether to recall Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch, who is not running up against any replacement candidates.
In an email interview, Ravitch shared her response to claims made by the campaign, why she decided not to run for reelection and why the legal community might care if the county’s Board of Supervisors appoints her replacement.
