Lawsuits by employees related to the COVID-19 pandemic rose over the summer ahead of plans by many companies to reopen their offices.

That’s according to employment law firm Fisher & Phillips’ COVID-19 Employment Litigation Tracker, which cited 674 lawsuits related to the COVID-19 pandemic filed in the period of June 1 through Aug. 31, nearly double the 394 cases for the same period in 2020. Filings also jumped from 209 in July to 246 in August.
