The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit upheld a district court’s decision to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a former Utah Valley University professor’s wife who accused administrators of leading a sham investigation that led her husband to commit suicide.

Ann Shively, the wife of professor Michael Shively and the representative of his estate, sued Utah Valley University (UVU) and its administrators, claiming their investigation intentionally eroded her husband’s mental health, leading him to commit suicide in March 2019, according to the court’s opinion filed Wednesday.
