11:15 a.m.   Hail to the Chief - Championing Diverse Talent for the CLO/GC's Role and the Real-Life Balancing Act it Creates: Efforts to diversitfy the chief legal officer's (or general counsel's) position have led to strategic efforts by three of the nation's largest diverse voluntary bar associations - the HNBA, NAPABA, and the NBA - to prepare and champion high-potential diverse talent.  Attendees will learn about these efforts and hear from current GC's as to why they think such initiatives are important in theory and practice.  Attendees will also hear real-life testimonials of how current GC's/CLO's make it all work in real-time as they balance the demands of helping to run national or multinational corporations, paying-it-forward by developing future legal department leaders and maneuvering the everyday demands of life.

2:30 p.m.     Mindfulness Workshop: As professionals, the benefits of emotional intelligence are difficult to overstate.  Clearer communications, greater self-management, improved relationships, lower stress, stronger leadership and more.  So how does one reliably and efficiently develop greater capacity in this area?  In this interactive session we will connect the dots between practicing mindfulness and developing greater emotional intelligence, including how to integrate into everyday life.  You will not only leave with a road map for increasing emotional intelligence over time, you'll have tools to put into immediate use like mindful listening and dealing skillfully with triggers
