Simpson Thacher Enhances Healthcare Practice With Addition of Regulatory Counsel Vanessa K. Burrows
NEW YORK & WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 22, 2019--Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced today that Vanessa K. Burrows, a healthcare regulatory lawyer, has joined the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office as Counsel.
With deep experience involving Food and Drug Administration and other healthcare regulatory matters, Vanessa has advised pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, healthcare and technology companies, hospitals and other providers in connection with regulatory and compliance needs, as well as in connection with M&A and capital-raising transactions. Vanessa has extensive experience counseling clients with respect to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, health privacy and security issues, fraud and abuse compliance, pharmacy law, cannabis matters, and public health matters.

Previously, Vanessa held several government positions focused on healthcare regulation and administrative issues. Her experience includes serving as HIPAA Privacy Officer and Attorney for the Department of Public Health for the City of Chicago. Vanessa also worked on Capitol Hill for the Congressional Research Service, advising Members of Congress and their staff regarding healthcare law, administrative law and constitutional law during the creation and passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
