U.S. District Judge Richard Leon indicated Wednesday that it could be “weeks,” not days, before he issued his ruling in Wilmer Cutler Picking Hale and Dorr’s case challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order against the firm, though said the EO is "retaliation" against the law firm. Abigail Adcox and Amanda O'Brien report that Leon heard oral arguments from both sides in a roughly hour-long hearing with a packed courtroom. Leon pushed back on the federal government’s argument that the executive order as a whole was not retaliatory toward the law firm.
