Long Covid has pushed an estimated four million full-time workers out of the workforce, according to a recent NPR report, forcing employers to grapple with how to best accommodate workers with Covid-related complications—many of which have no guaranteed end in sight.
But while long Covid is relatively new, the issue of making workplace accommodations for workers with long-term disabilities is not. For employers, the challenge of creating workarounds for workers with long Covid could be an opportunity to rethink how they approach workers with other chronic medical issues moving forward—and retain skilled workers amid ongoing labor shortages. |
